The My Passport connects to your computer via a USB 3.0 port at speeds up to 5 Gb/s, is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 at speeds up to 480 Mb/s, and is formatted as HFS+ Journaled so Mac OS X Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks, and Yosemite will recognize it right out of the box. For Windows users, the drive can be reformatted to work with this operating system.
Due to the mobility of portable hard drives, sensitive data on these drives can be easily lost or stolen. With built-in 256-bit AES hardware encryption, your data stays safe with always-on protection. Authentication takes place on the My Passport instead of taking up valuable system resources.
