The Zacuto Gratical HD EVF Recoil Kit for Sony F5/F55 from B&H is a complete shoulder-mounted rig designed specifically for the Sony F5 or F55, pairing Zacuto's Sony EVF Recoil with their Gratical HD Micro OLD EVF. The Sony EVF Recoil includes a VCT Universal baseplate, a Zgrip Z-Mount Zwivel handgrip, and a F5/F55 top plate, which features a wide array of accessory mounting options. The rig is designed for optimal balance and comfort when shoulder-mounted or on a tripod, without the need for heavy counterweights. With modern lenses and cameras being similar weights, the balance point is often where the lens meets the camera body. Zacuto's Recoil rigs place the balance directly over your shoulder, relocating focus, monitoring, and camera controls forward, and creating a lighter and shorter rig.
The VCT Universal Baseplate has a built-in, curved shoulder pad for comfortable shoulder-mounted shooting, and a V-wedge connector for mounting the rig on a tripod. The baseplate also provides 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threaded holes and includes removable 6.5" long 15mm rods for mounting accessories such as an optional follow focus or matte box, as well as the included Zgrip Z-Mount Zwivel handgrip. The F5/F55 Top Plate attaches to your camera frame and provides numerous 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 mounting threads, as well as a quick-release 15mm Z-Lock port, a single 4.5" female/female rod, and the Recoil Handle. The Recoil Handle serves as a top grip, accepts two cold-shoe accessories and has a quick-release 15mm rod port for attaching the Gratical HD EVF via an included Axis Mini adjustable mounting arm.
By moving positioning the camera further back on your shoulder, an EVF becomes an important component for framing and monitoring your shots. The Gratical HD uses a micro OLED panel no bigger than your thumbnail that is packed with more than 5.4 million dots to deliver 720p resolution images with true blacks. It features SDI and HDMI inputs/outputs and supports cross-conversion as well as custom LUTs on both the viewfinder's display and the downstream video. Additionally, it is packed with all the professional scopes and video assist functions you'd expect from a professional viewfinder, and offers a variety of mounting options, including an ARRI compatible rosette and ¼"-20 threaded holes.
