The Atlona HDMI Audio Multi-Channel to 2-Ch Converter is a plug and play audio device that converts HDMI audio to 2-channel audio for output as unbalanced, optical, digital, and embedded in HDMI video. This device overcomes audio problems that can occur when connecting multiple devices to an HDCP source, which may cause the source to stop playing, or drop audio. The HDMI multichannel to 2-channel converter provides its own EDID to the HDMI source, ensuring the source plays, and then it distributes the audio to its optical, digital, and unbalanced L/R audio outputs. The device also passes Video & VESA signals over HDMI along with the converted 2-channel audio.
The device is plug and play, and supports both lossy and lossless audio formats, and passes through the HDMI video signal. This allows you to place the device along your signal path, without worrying that it will interfere with downstream devices such as monitors or recorders. It features LED status indicators, so that you can visually confirm what kind of audio signal the device is receiving. The device features a locking power socket for the included power supply.
