The Gibbon GN3 from Big Balance is a handheld 3-axis motorized gimbal stabilizer that supports loads weighing between 1.5 and 2.2 lb, making it suitable for use with mirrorless cameras such as the Sony a7S, a7S II, and Panasonic GH4 when paired with lightweight lenses. It utilizes an IMU sensor and brushless motors to counteract unwanted shakes and movement along the pan, tilt, and roll axes to provide smooth and stable footage. Four operating modes are available to accommodate different shooting styles and scenarios, including modes that allow the camera to smoothly follow the pan and tilt movements of the handle or remained locked in place along all axes. A thumbstick on the handle allows you to switch between modes, as well as manually adjust camera tilt up/down.
Similar to non-motorized stabilizers, the camera must be balanced on the camera platform for optimal results. To speed up this process, the Gibbon GN3 comes with a camera mounting plate and features position markings so you can take note of the balance position of different camera and lens setups. In addition to handheld operation, a 1/4"-20 threaded hole at the base of the handle allows you to mount the stabilizer onto an additional support device, such as a tripod or extension pole. An 800mAh rechargeable LiPo battery is included that provides approximately 45 min of continuous use.
