The Stereo Base Extender for Sony DEV-5 from Cyclopital 3D is a video accessory used to increase the lens spacing of the two DEV-5 optical channels. Increased lens spacing enables the binoculars to capture more stereoscopic depth at longer focal lengths. As the lens gets further away from the subject, parallax decreases and reduces the stereoscopic depth. The Stereo Base Extender uses front surface mirrors to reflect the incoming image and increase the image spacing from 31mm to 135mm. With 135mm lens spacing, videographers can capture the same stereoscopic depth of 31mm lens spacing but at up to four times the distance. The ability to capture enhanced depth at greater distances is useful for wildlife, sports, and wedding videography.
