User manual for the Dave Smith Instruments DSM02 Character Module DSI-4001
The user manual for the Dave Smith Instruments DSM02 Character Module DSI-4001 provides
necessary instructions for the proper use of the product Pro Audio - Musical Instruments - Synthesizer Modules.
Designed for Eurorack-format modular synthesizer enthusiasts, the Dave Smith Instruments DSM02 Character Module offers five digital effects for shaping, twisting, and mangling sound in subtle and severe ways. The effects include Girth, Air, and Drive. These effects are taken from the character section of the company's Prophet 12 and Pro 2 synthesizers.
The five effects include: "Girth" which provides low frequency harmonic enhancement for adding weight and density; "Air" which provides high-frequency harmonic enhancement for adding definition and presence; "Decimate" which performs sample rate reduction for adding lo-fi grunge; "Hack" which is a bit crusher capable of trashing an otherwise clean signal nearly beyond recognition; and "Drive" which adds overdrive and saturation by providing warmth at one end of the knob and harmonic overload at the other.
The module uses a 24-bit 96 kHz digital signal path and features two independent audio inputs and two independent audio outputs for either mono or stereo operation. All interconnections are made using 3.5mm phone jacks.
