The Ikelite 6148.26 Underwater Housing For Canon SX240 HS / SX260 HS Digital Camera is a durable underwater case molded from clear polycarbonate to prevent corrosion. It boasts a depth rating of 200' (61 m). Buoyancy is nearly neutral in fresh water. The housing features mechanical controls offering access to all camera functions. Dual 12-24 threaded mounts on the bottom enable the secure attachment of optional trays and lighting accessories (not included).
An included flash diffuser enhances lighting quality when the camera's built-in flash is utilized. A built-in flash is effective at a distance of 1-3' (0.3-0.9 m) from your subject in clear conditions. For optimum results, it's recommended that you use an external underwater strobe (not included). Ikelite strobes are far more powerful, recycle faster, and get rid of backscatter better than the camera's built-in flash. Instead of settling for flat, blue-green images, utilize the optional AutoFlash AF35 (not included) for easy automatic exposure. Or, you can add an optional DS Substrobe with EV Manual Controller (not included) for greater power and wider angle of coverage. A flash deflector is included with the housing to prevent the camera's flash from producing backscatter in the image.
There are optional color correcting filters available (not included) to replace some of the reds and more natural tones that are otherwise absorbed underwater. The #6441.46 filter is for tropical blue water, while the #6441.86 is for green. Filters work effectively in shallow, sunny conditions, depending upon the water's clarity. For optimum results, use them along with a manual white balance.
The optional WD-4 Wide Angle Conversion Dome (not included) corrects for refractive magnification to take advantage of the camera's full angle of view underwater. The dome is removable and replaceable underwater and requires no modification to the housing's standard port.
Optional external macro adapter #9306.82 (not included) fits over the front of the housing's lens port, enabling you to attach 67mm threaded macro lenses from Inon and Epoque. Like the WD-4, this adapter can be removed or replaced beneath the surface and requires no modification to the standard port.
For your underwater movies, bring out the truest colors day or night via a high-powered video light. For occasional clips, the optional Pro-V8 LED light (not included) is ideal when it comes to close-up work and focus assistance. For the serious photographer, it's recommended to employ the optional, extremely powerful PRO-2800 LED (not included) for optimal output and flexibility. A tray with release handle(s) (not included) is required for attachment.
