Slim and portable at 0.8" thin, the ThinkPad X250 20CM002YUS 12.5" Ultrabook Computer from Lenovo comes equipped with a 3-button trackpad and dual batteries, while not sacrificing ports or connectivity options. The system is powered by a 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5-5300U Dual-Core processor that allows you to run multiple applications simultaneously. If you need more power, the processor can be overclocked to 2.9 GHz and the system's 8GB of 1600 MHz PC3-12800 DDR3 RAM allows the computer to quickly access frequently-used files and programs. The RAM comes in a configuration of one 8GB chip that is installed in a 204-pin SO-DIMM socket that can support memory amounts up to 8GB. As this system only has one socket, 8GB is the maximum amount that it can support.
The 12.5" LED-backlit anti-glare display features an HD 1366 x 768 native resolution, a 16:9 aspect ratio, 200 cd/m2 brightness, and a 300:1 contrast ratio. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 delivers a sharp, clear picture and you'll also be able to output video to an external display using the built-in Mini DisplayPort and VGA ports. For connecting to the Internet, a Gigabit Ethernet port and 802.11ac Wi-Fi are included. For connecting external peripherals such as storage or optical drives, this may be accomplished using the two USB 3.0 ports. One of the USB 3.0 ports is also powered for always-on device charging. Additional compatible peripherals may be paired using Bluetooth 4.0 technology.
For long-term storage of your files, the ThinkPad X250 features a 500GB 5400 rpm hard drive and a 16GB SSD, for a total storage capacity of 516GB. While the SSD may not have the larger capacity of a traditional hard drive, it features no moving parts and is more resistant to damage from bumps and drops. Having no moving parts also allows the SSD to operate with faster data transfer speeds. Additionally, since SSDs have no moving parts, they receive less wear and tear, since there are no read and write heads for the drive media to come into contact with.
Whether you are listening to music, watching a movie, or playing a game, the dual integrated 1.5W stereo speakers with Dolby sound use the Realtek ALC3232 HD audio codec and offer high quality sound. There is also an integrated 720p webcam which allows you to engage in face-to-face conversations using Skype or other software, dual digital-array microphones, and a 4-in-1 media card reader that supports Secure Digital and MMC cards.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X250 20CM002YUS includes two batteries - a 3-cell/23Wh internal battery and a 3-cell/23Wh external lithium-ion battery which will last for up to 10.7 hours before recharging is required. The system runs using an included 45W AC adapter and while the installed operating system is Windows 7 Professional (64-bit), a Windows 8.1 (64-bit) license is included at no additional cost.
