The RECEPTOR TRIO Hybrid Software Powered Effects Processor from Muse Research comes with a 16GB RAM, a 2TB hard drive, a quad-core processor, and flexible I/O capability. The custom front panel hardware user interface lets you harness the versatility of virtual instruments and effects with minimal hassle (no computer monitor required), thereby making it suitable for use by all musicians. Powerful and easy-to-use, the RECEPTOR serves as an apt choice, whether you perform on stage, record in a studio, or compose for the screen.
The RECEPTOR TRIO is not a computer or a hardware synth or effects processor. It is a hybrid music instrument that serves as a stand-alone solution for running virtual instruments and effects software. You do not have to buy a bunch of interfaces and install drivers to start making music, as the RECEPTOR TRIO is a complete, rack-mount musical instrument and effects processor that works right out of the box. This effects processor is software-powered, and employs a custom, purpose-built operating system and host application for running your software. This lets you make music without the worry or hassle of system conflicts, long boot and load times, slow disc messages, system hiccups, viruses, and the other stability problems that plague computers. Even better, the RECEPTOR TRIO is designed for enhanced playability, so your favorite virtual instruments and effects perform better.
The RECEPTOR TRIO Effects Processor comes with a Live Mode feature that lets you take the contents of any TAG and pre-load the sounds or effects in that TAG using intelligent caching technology. This allows pre-loading of your sounds (up to the limits of the available RAM) and the ability to move from sound to sound (or effect to effect) instantly without waiting for subsequent sounds or effects to load.
Simple to use, all that is required is to simply select a TAG, enter the Live Mode, and start playing. The Live mode starts at the top of your list of sounds, and as you finish with your previous sounds, they are automatically unloaded and new sounds are loaded in their place. The previous preset you play is always kept available, as are several more that are down the list, thereby making it easier to move quickly from song to song or cue to cue during rehearsals.
The Live mode also features a notes function that lets you enter performance reminders such as lyrics, key signatures, tempos, and anything you want or need to see while on stage. It helps reduce performance anxiety and makes sure that your shows run smoothly.
The Live mode feature also lets you override volume and panning levels that are saved with the preset, making it possible to fine tune your set without having to re-save your sounds. This enables fast and easy modifications to your list of presets without needing to leave the live mode performance screen. Live mode is the way to go if you want to perform live on stage, move efficiently from sound to sound in the studio, or demo sounds quickly when searching for a particular instrument or effect.
The RECEPTOR is easy to get started with, thanks to the SoundFinder. It is also a powerful and flexible system that empowers you to create complex and evocative sounds of your own. To do this, it is best to view the RECEPTOR graphical user interface by simply connecting a VGA monitor, a USB mouse, and a USB keyboard to the back of the unit. Once connected, you not only see all the TAGs and presets that make up the SoundFinder, but you can also see the virtual rack with all the available virtual instruments and effects included with your RECEPTOR.
The RECEPTOR TRIO’s rack-style interface lets you create your own custom presets using a simple drag and drop paradigm. Just select a plug-in of interest, drag it into the central rack area (instruments on top, effects on bottom), and play. You can also edit the instrument or effect's GUI by simply clicking on it, giving you all the editing power that comes with the plug-in.
The RECEPTOR's GUI (Graphical User Interface) makes it easy to tweak factory sounds, create complex layered sounds, or split sounds in to zones across a keyboard and more. Saving your creations is easy as the sounds can also be tagged for easy recall later using the SoundFinder or Live Mode.
The RECEPTOR TRIO comes with a variety of software. It features a complete assortment of premium virtual instruments and effects software that are ready-to-use, right out of the box. The included software covers a wide range of instruments and synthesis styles, with over 4GB of built-in quality sounds (MusePlayer by UVI), various virtual analog and physical modeling synthesizers (AAS Player, Alchemy Player, and Forefront Amber), as well as a comprehensive set of effects that includes guitar processing (Peavey ReValver HP, Amplitube Duo), vocal processing (MuVoice LE), and enhanced studio-quality effects (Camel Phat, Camel Space, MasterVerb4, TrackPlug4, and more).
The RECEPTOR TRIO comes with Native Instruments software bundles KOMPLETE 8 and KOMPLETE 8 ULTIMATE pre-installed, and ready to check out. The effects processor makes it easy to take advantage of a variety of instruments and effects, without the hassle of software installation. It also lets you load in new programs as they become available or add new sample libraries to products like KONTAKT 5 that comes with KOMPLETE 8. The result is that your RECEPTOR can expand and grow with you, making it a versatile and useful piece of music gear.
The RECEPTOR TRIO uses the Presonus 1818 audio interface to provide 8 analog inputs with microphone preamps, 8 analog outputs, ADAT digital out, as well as SPIDF outputs. On the back panel of the RECEPTOR, is a full-sized MIDI input and a TRS footswitch jack for changing patches (use a Y-adapter to connect 2 switches: one for incrementing and the other for decrementing). Also, on the back are four USB 2.0 ports for connecting to a mouse or keyboard, or to a class-compliant MIDI keyboard. You can connect a VGA monitor to the VGA port and view the GUI of the RECEPTOR, or remotely view the GUI over a network by connecting a computer or Wi-Fi router to the Gigabit Ethernet port. Rounding out the rear panel is a universal AC power input. You can take your RECEPTOR anywhere, thanks to the auto-ranging, auto-power factor correcting power supply.
The RECEPTOR TRIO features a rugged chassis that is entirely made of steel and aluminum, and since it is rack-mountable, it is less prone to theft or breakage.
