The user manual for the OWC / Other World Computing ThunderBay 4 4TB OWCTB2IVT04.0S provides
necessary instructions for the proper use of the product Computers & Solutions - Drives & Storage - Hard Drive Arrays.
The ThunderBay 4 4TB (4 x 1TB) Four-Bay Thunderbolt RAID Array from OWC / Other World Computing comes with four hard drives preinstalled and connects to Mac systems via Thunderbolt. Behind the lockable front panel are four bays that each house a single 1TB hard drive. These drives feature 32MB of cache memory and spin at 7,200 rpm. Out of the box the drives work in JBOD mode where each drive is handled independently with its own drive letter. These drives can be software reconfigured in different RAID options that offer redundancy, speed, or a combination of both. RAID software is not included.
The ThunderBay 4 comes with two Thunderbolt 2 ports which allow you to daisy-chain up to six devices such as additional ThunderBays, 4K displays, and more. Thunderbolt 2 offers a single 20 Gb/s bi-directional channel that allows you to stream and write 4K video at the same time. To cool the hard drives, OWC uses a quiet 92mm fan. For service, OWC provides a 3-year warranty and also includes level 1 data recovery during the first year.
