The Sabine FBX 1210 Feedback Exterminator is a single unit rack-mountable digital device designed for suppressing feedback in live sound applications. It works by rapidly analyzing the audio signal and then inserting a narrow adaptive parametric EQ filter over the feedback frequency in 0.4 seconds time.
The unit's SMARTFilter technology analyzes the signal's harmonic content to distinguish music which is rich in harmonics from feedback which has fewer harmonics. The parametric EQ filter has a 1 Hz resolution and is precisely placed on the exact frequency that is causing the feedback. This removes the feedback without taking away from the music. To preserve sound quality, the device uses up to 12 selectable filters at once, each filter is either 1/10th or 1/5th of an octave wide, and the signal receives 6 to 9 dB of pre-filter gain.
The filters can be manually fixed to specific frequencies or set up to automatically adjust to the music in real time. You can manually reset the fixed filters or have them automatically reset on a preset time interval of 1, 5, 30, or 60 minutes. The automatic reset allows for the device to adapt to changes in the program material over time. A three-color LED indicator system shows you the signal gain and indicates which filters are dynamic (green), unlocked fixed (yellow) and locked fixed (red). The device uses 24-bit digital conversion and has both balanced XLR and unbalanced 1/4" TRS inputs and outputs.
