Should users ever wish to upgrade the included drives, this NAS also natively supports 2.5" SATA III 6 Gb/s hard drives and SSDs, as well as 3.5" and 2.5" SATA II 3 Gb/s hard drives and SSDs. Should users need to expand the overall capacity of their RS815RP+, the optional RX415 expansion unit offers an additional four drive bays that are identical to those offered by the RS815RP+. This NAS supports read speeds up to 389.03 MB/s and write speeds up to 361.33 MB/s. Additionally, should power to the NAS be interrupted, the RS815RP+ comes equipped with a 250W redundant power supply.
The Rackstation RS815RP+ is powered by a 2.4 GHz Intel Atom C2538 Quad-Core processor, which will allow you to run multiple functions simultaneously. The built-in 2GB (1 x 2GB) of DDR3 RAM will allow quick access to frequently-used files and programs and may also be upgraded to a total of 6GB by installing a 4GB module into the available memory slot. There are also 2 x USB 2.0 ports, 1 x eSATA port, and network connectivity is achieved via the 4 x Gigabit Ethernet ports with failover support. Failover support helps to provide redundancy in the case that a LAN connection malfunction occurs on one port. In addition, link aggregation, powered by the four LAN ports, helps to increase connection speeds beyond the limits of a single network port or cable.
