Equally powerful for use as an observational OTA or imaging astrograph, Vixen Optics's VMC200L 8" f/9.75 Cassegrain Telescope features a large 8" aperture and long 1950mm focal length which produces a mid-range f/9.75 focal ratio. While this is slower than normal astrographs, its modified Cassegrain optical configuration incorporates a primary mirror and a meniscus corrector plate just before a secondary mirror which results in the light being corrected twice along the optical path. The end result is that spherical aberration and field curvature are corrected which produces images without distortion across the entire field of view. With the optical correction placed before the secondary mirror, the VMC200L avoids the necessity of having a corrector plate eliminating dew issues common with a closed optical tube.
