Store, carry, and protect all your sensitive and important data with the 3TB My Passport USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive for Mac from WD. With a capacity of 3TB, use it for extra storage or for backing up your videos, photos, and files. The My Passport connects to your computer via a USB 3.0 port at speeds up to 5 Gb/s, is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 at speeds up to 480 Mb/s, and is formatted as HFS+ Journaled so Mac OS X Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks, and Yosemite will recognize it right out of the box. For Windows users, the drive can be reformatted to work with this operating system.
Due to the mobility of portable hard drives, sensitive data on these drives can be easily lost or stolen. With built-in 256-bit AES hardware encryption, your data stays safe with always-on protection. Authentication takes place on the My Passport instead of taking up valuable system resources. Additionally, you can easily access the data on the drive without the need of driver or software installation on the host system.
The My Passport quickly backs up and retrieves files by utilizing USB 3.0 technology and draws power from a USB bus-powered port on your device. Automatic data backups have been simplified with the use of Apple Time Machine and WD Backup software that lets you create scheduled backup times. Included with the WD My Passport is a USB 3.0 cable.
