User manual for the Pentax 645Z Medium Format DSLR Comprehensive Starter Kit KB16599

The user manual for the Pentax 645Z Medium Format DSLR Comprehensive Starter Kit KB16599 provides necessary instructions for the proper use of the product Photography - Digital Cameras - Medium Format Cameras.

Comprising everything needed to enter the world of digital medium format photography, the 645Z Comprehensive Starter Kit from Pentax pairs the high-resolution camera body with a trio of lenses and a suite of accessories to provide you with a well-rounded tool-set from the beginning.

The 645Z is a unique DSLR featuring the large 51.4MP 43.8 x 32.8mm CMOS sensor, which, along with the Prime III image processor, is capable of producing exceptionally clear 14-bit imagery with notable sharpness and a broad dynamic range. The sensor's design also omits the conventional anti-aliasing filter for increased sharpness and resolution. The processor and sensor combination also avails a top continuous shooting rate of 3 fps, a sensitivity range of ISO 100-204,800, and the ability to record full HD 1080 video at 60i, 30p, or 24p frame rates. A 27-point SAFOX 11 AF system, which includes 25 cross-type sensors and three dedicated low-light sensors, is capable of producing fast, accurate focusing with a light sensitivity range from -3 to +18 EV. Complementing the imaging capabilities, the 645Z is also characterized by its durable magnesium alloy body construction that incorporates 76 protective seals to guard against water, fog, snow, sand, and dust. A 3.2" 1.037m-dot tilting LCD is available for live view monitoring, image playback, and menu navigation, and dual SD card slots allow you to make in-camera file backups or partition your DNG/PEF and JPEG files while shooting.

Included with the camera body are three lenses: a wide zoom, standard prime, and a telephoto macro prime. The smc PENTAX-D FA 645 55mm f/2.8 AL [IF] SDM AW provides a slightly wider-than-normal 35mm-equivalent focal length of 43.5mm and uses aspherical elements to reduce aberrations and distortions for increased clarity and sharpness. A bit wider, the HD PENTAX-DA645 28-45mm f/4.5 ED AW SR offers a versatile 35mm-equivalent focal length range of 22-35.5mm and features a constant f/4.5 maximum aperture for consistent performance throughout the zoom range. Two extra-low dispersion elements and two aspherical elements benefit image quality and sharpness and an integrated Shake Reduction image stabilization system compensates for up to 3.5 stops of camera shake. Finally, the third lens in the kit is the HD PENTAX-D FA 645 Macro 90mm f/2.8 ED AW SR, which offers a 71mm equivalent focal length and provides a 1:2 reproduction ratio with a 1.4' minimum focusing distance for working with close-up subjects. Its optical design features two extra-low dispersion elements and one glass-molded aspherical element to control aberrations and distortions, while a floating lens mechanism maintains accurate, consistent performance at varying focus distances. This lens, too, incorporates Shake Reduction image stabilization to benefit handheld shooting. All three of these lenses also feature Supersonic Direct-drive Motors for fast, smooth autofocus performance and are also weather-sealed to match the durable design of the 645Z body.

Complementing the imaging components, this kit also includes the Advantage Platinum program, which encompasses a three-year extended warranty for the camera body and each of the lenses; free access to loaner equipment, in the instance your camera or lenses need to be sent in for repair; and one comprehensive cleaning and inspection of your camera and lenses. Additionally, also included in the kit is a pair of 32GB SDHC memory cards, an extra D-LI90 lithium-ion battery, and a wheeled hard case with custom-cut foam interior for protecting and traveling with the kit.
