The DVD version of Topaz Clean Plug-In from Topaz Labs LLC is an ideal tool for producing a highly stylized, over-sharpened, or smooth image quality without sacrificing the structural details of a photograph. Unwanted details and textures can easily be removed from an image for a flattened, hyper-real appearance, while the edges of a subject can be refined to maintain an image's overall integrity. Simplified creation of vectorized effects is possible, such as a reduction in visual depth and detail, as well as the ability to retouch skin using the dedicated Skin Even preset.
The Clean workflow is divided across nine sliders, and organized into three groups of controls, for precise, simplified adjustment over an image's appearance. The Clean tab enables flattening and smoothing of unwanted textures without sacrificing the edge quality of subjects. These sliders, Strength, Threshold, and Radius, are best-suited for portraiture and skin retouching. The Edges tab helps to stylize and create structured lines through the use of sharpening processes. Of the three sliders available in this group, Sharpness aids in creating curly, vector-styled effects with increased contrast for a dramatic look. Lastly, the Texture tab permits greater refinement over the final appearance of textures within a photograph. The three sliders, Texture, Boost, and Size, within this group enable adding back detail to an image after it has been smoothed and its edges have been enhanced.
This plug-in is not a standalone program and requires a compatible host program for use. Compatible hosts include: Adobe Photoshop CC, Photoshop CS4+ (non-CC), Photoshop Elements, Photoshop Lightroom, Apple Aperture, iPhoto, Corel PaintShop Pro, PhotoImpact, Serif PhotoPlus, Topaz photoFXlab, and IrfanView.
